Biomechanical Injuries
The common lower leg and foot injuries we manage include:
Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is a condition that causes pain the heel and/or bottom medial arch of the foot. It occurs when the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that connects the calcaneus (heel bone) to the toes, becomes inflamed and irritated. The plantar fascia plays an important role in supporting the arch of the foot and absorbing shock when you walk or run.
Plantar fasciitis is a common condition especially among runners and people who spend a lot of time on their feet.
Symptoms:
-
Sharp pain in the heel especially when taking the first few steps in the morning
-
Burning or aching pain with slight swelling to the bottom of the foot
-
Dull constant ache
We provide direct treatments to the plantar fascia and implement exercise programs to reduce the overall pain and discomfort.
Flat Feet
Flat feet is a condition in which the arch of the foot collapses, causing the whole plantar surface of the foot to come into contact with the ground. This can lead to pain or discomfort, particularly in the feet, ankles, and lower legs and can also cause complications with balance and stability.
